We offer CORE Pesticide Training Classes during the expo. These classes are designed to provide essential education and certification for pesticide application, ensuring best practices and safety in agricultural operations. Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your knowledge, ensure compliance, and promote safe and effective pesticide use.

Courses are complimentary with paid expo admission. Expo admission is $5 at the door, parking if free.

Class Schedule

  • A maximum of 4 ag credits are available.
  • Must be seated for entire 4 hours for credits.

Speaker Bios

Brent Warneke is a Senior Faculty Research Assistant and PhD student (graduation expected Dec. 2025) at Oregon State University currently working on improving chemical use efficiency in specialty crops with sensor-controlled air blast sprayers. The focus of his research is on management of plant pathogens of grape, blueberries, and nursery crops with conventional and organic products, including biofungicides. Outside of his work, Brent is an avid outdoorsman that enjoys rock climbing, skiing, backpacking, fishing, and other pursuits.

Dani Lightle is the Policy and Stewardship director for Oregonians for Food and Shelter. Previously, Dani worked in tree and nut research and extension with the University of California and led the IR-4 pesticide registration program at Oregon State University. She is currently building a stewardship education program for the nonprofit, Cultivate Northwest.

Andony Melathopoulos is an Associate Professor of Pollinator Health in the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University. He leads the steering committee for the Oregon Bee Project, which coordinates pollinator health work across state agencies, leads the Oregon Bee Atlas, and hosts a podcast on pollinator health, PolliNation.

Aaron Becerra-Alvarez:

Aaron Becerra-Alvarez is an Assistant Professor of Weed Science in the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University. His program focuses on weed science in vegetables and specialty seed crops. Dr. Becerra-Alvarez’s interests are in how plants, the environment, and management interact, and how to use that knowledge to develop integrated weed management approaches in the field.

Marcelo Moretti:

Marcelo Moretti is an Associate Professor of Weed Science in the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University. His program focuses on research and extension for weed science in perennial horticultural crops, including berries and hazelnuts. Dr. Moretti’s research program is focused on integrated weed management strategies that are effective and economical for managing weeds in organic and conventional production systems.

Victor Ribeiro:

Victor Ribeiro is an Assistant Professor and Extension Weed Specialist for the Department of Crop and Soil Science at Oregon State University. His research focuses on herbicide resistance, herbicide fate in the environment, non-target impacts, and integrated weed management strategies for Oregon growers.
